What, pray tell, is a TWART?

Hello Fringers!

Thought I’d take a minute to update you about out new summer TWART series.

A “twart” is an outdoor adventure with a twist of art. This May, we’re *softly* introducing this concept to the public. We don’t want to scare anybody away!

Our first twart was a rainy two-mile hike followed by a little poetry writing. Richard Crooks wrote a haiku inspired by the hike and shared it with the group. Nice!

Richard Crooks’s poem!

Our second twart is a musical mushroom hike. We’ll hike for three miles and search for mushrooms along the way. Chicago musician Clarence Fraher is writing an original mushroom-themed song for the event. There’s a light picnic and everyone’s invited to write a mushroom-themed poem or short story and share it with the group.

Our “twarts” are free and open to the public. Most of the time, leashed dogs are welcome. We’ll let you know. They’re “rain or shine” events but we will cancel if there is thunder and/or lightning.

You can learn the details and RSVP on our Events Tab.

Hope to see you soon! -Connie
