Barefoot Hike & Write at Hononegah Forest Preserve.

This summer, the Rockford Fringe is offering twarts. A “twart” is an outdoor adventure with a twist of art.
The Outdoor Adventure
Connie Kuntz will guide a free one-mile barefoot hike through the preserve.
We have scouted out the perfect loop for bare feet! It is scenic and takes us along the river and back.
This hike is shorter and slower than our usual hikes because we will not be wearing shoes. We hope you give it a try! It is fun to connect with the earth this way!
The TWART
After we hike for one mile, everyone is invited to share their own barefoot-themed poetry or writing.
We’ll provide a cooler filled with ice-cold waters as well as a gallon of piping hot Starbucks coffee. Please bring your own cup for coffee.
The Details
Do not park in the first parking lot. Keep driving to the soccer field and park there!
There is one outhouse off the parking lot.
Leashed dogs are welcome.
Consider using bug spray or tick repellent.
Leashed dogs are welcome. Rain or Shine. Free. Open to the public.
Writing
This isn’t mandatory but we hope you give it a try. Please don’t stress if you’re not a poet. Just let yourself relax and write down a few thoughts. You’ll be glad you did! Bring your own pen and paper.
